I don't think that there are options available in Windows XP, but you can turn-off your monitor in Vista and Windows 7. Explore your manual to identify the FN key for turning-off the monitor. It's either FN+F5 or FN+F8. Basically there are three options: Your laptop display, Display on both projector and the laptop display and finally, display on projector only. So if you select the third option, the laptop display gets turned-off. Please note that JAWS will not announce those options and you will have to verify it with a sighted person. And one other solution. If you use an external keyboard and select the power option: "When I close the lid, do nothing", your display gets turned-off as soon as you close the lid.
