One of my colleauges is using the very latest tata photon plus, provided
to her by our office and had set it up on her own from the scratch, which
seems it is very much accessible with JAWS 10.

Hi Zujar,
Let me tell you that the data card which Reliance or any other such
service
used to provide about a year back was very much accessible. Even I'm also
having the Reliance data card and its very much similar to what you spoke
in
your last mail. However, the data cards that all such companies are
supplying today are completely inaccessible with even JAWS cursor simply
because all the buttons are given in graphics and no text labelled on
that.
so the only temporary remedy to those cards is to first get it connected
with the help of a sighted person and then to connect it through the
connection manager.

Hi Ketan,
The 'Set as default' function of the Reliance Net Connect application is
what you're looking for. It's under the Settings tab of the application
window.
You get following tabs in the Reliance NetConnect window:
- Connection
- Activate
- Settings
- Zapac
- Help
These tabs cannot to switched using CTRL+TAB. The JAWS cursor can help
although. Switch to JAWS cursor and access the tab list using UP/DOWN
arrow
keys. Once there, press CTRL+LEFT or CTRL+RIGHT to take the JAWS cursor
to
'Settings'. Perform 'Left Mouse Click' now and the Settings tab opens.
You
can use TAB key now to navigate to the 'Set as default' button. Activate
it
and you're done.
Hth...
Regards,
Zujar

Sorry, Pranav, I am probably not clear.
Once I install the device, I can see it as an icon on the desktop and the
reliance broadband plus is in the programmes menu. I am unable to see
the
thing in connections list under control pannel, networks. Of course, my
default connection is tata photon plus. Do I need to uninstall the same?
Please do indicate.

Hi,
When you say, the device refuses to install, what do you mean? Can you
see
the device as a drive under "my computer"? Did you try my suggestion of
activating the broadband software but not using it to dial?
Another thing you could try is to remove all instamces of the device
from
the device manager and then plug the device back in again.

Pranav, Actually, the device refuses to get installed. I have worked
with
Tata Photon plus without any problem. My system is XP SP 3 and I am
using
AVG Internet Security with firewall. In fact, as soon as I press enter
on
the desktop icon the volume also gets lowered (from 100% to 49%). When
I
go
to Control Pannel, Networks I find LAN, Wireless connection and Tata
indicom. What could be teh reason? ----- Original Message -----

Hi,
Fear not, there is indeed a way around the in accessible interface of
reliance broadband. Carry out the following steps.
1. Ascertained the phone number you need to dial as well as your user
name
and password. I am not sure how to do this independently. My employer
has
given me a data card, so the system administrator in my company gave me
the
requisite credentials. Usually, the phone number assigned to the data
card
will be the user name and the password.
2. Insert the data card into the computer and let the computer add the
relevant hardware. broadband software.
3. Navigate to the network and dial-up connections applet.
4. One of the connections should belong to your reliance broadband.
5. Use this connection to dial out.
If you get an error such as no dial tone, the modem is busy or
anything
else, it means that the hardware has not been properly installed. You
need
to remove the data card after using the "safely eject hardware" option
in
Windows and then reinsert the card and follow the above steps again.
