Apple unveiled a new line of MacBook Pro notebooks on Thursday with processors that are twice as fast as the previous iteration and use Intel’s new Thunderbolt technology for high-speed data transfer. Starting at a cost of 1,200 dollars, the new Macbook Pro notebooks come with 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch screens, and also feature a high-definition camera and dual-core and quad-core Intel Core processors. The computers are the first to feature Intel’s Thunderbolt data ports that can transfer up to 10 gigabytes per second and which are expected to replace current display and data ports in the coming years across the computer industry. The release of the new line of computers was timed to coincide with the 56th birthday of Apple chief executive Steve Jobs, who is currently on medical leave.
