Hearty greetings to all my friends in chess,
I am pleased to announce that I am forming a new group called
Skype-Chess, which is open to anyone interested in the wonderful
game of chess. The purpose is to have fun playing good chess on
Skype, with as few tournament rules as possible.
Come one, come all! Anyone who enjoys chess is welcome. You may or
may not be a member of a chess organization. It doesn't matter.
Skype-Chess is independent. It is not affiliated with any particular
chess group. And there are no qualifications to join. You may be
blind or sighted, disabled or able-bodied, young or old, a beginning
or advanced player. All you need is the desire to play
over-the-board chess, where we announce moves to each other over
Skype, and a chess set so you can make the moves on your board as
they are spoken. Unlike correspondence chess, where games can take
several weeks to play, our games will be played in real time, taking
only a few hours to finish.
Once you have joined the Skype-Chess email list, we can arrange
Swiss tournaments, an ongoing Ladder tournament, friendly games that
are recreational and don't count in tournament standings, and even
instructional games, which can help those wanting to learn how to
play and improve their game. And, unlike many chess clubs, all of
this is free of charge.
So, let's get started. To join the Skype-Chess email list, please

You will then receive a confirmation email from Yahoo, asking if you
really meant to join this list. Just click reply to that email and
send it. You needn't write a word. Then will come the best email of
all, Yahoo telling you that you have joined the Skype-Chess email
list. And, as list owner, Yahoo will also notify me that you have
joined. Then you will be able to post to the list by sending your emails to:
