Hi Amar, I have tried the digital camera route and it is very hard to implement. The problem is positioning the document consistantly in relation to the camera. You will need a monopod since you need to get the camera at a 90 degree angle to the page. Once you solve that problem, the next one is holding the pages of the book flat when scanning. I have read about people using a v-shaped peace of glass but such peaces need to be custom built. The idea is to take the images you need and then OCR them separately.
XRCVC had posted about a less expensive camera appliance but I do not know if they have contacted the manufacturors to make it accessible. There was an attempt to build a less expensive camera appliance but that has halted. The developer seems to have disappeared. I have no data on income levels so provide relevant information to enable the user to judge for himself.
