Hi, SMS banking is purely based on SMS and hence anyone who can send SMS can make use of SMS banking. The following functions can be done using SMS banking;
1. Checking one's balance. 2. Getting a mini statement, i.e., last five transactions. 3. Mobile Topups. 4. Fund transfer. Each of the above function requires a syntax to be sent as SMS. Limitations; 1. The account holder will be charged for the SMSs sent. The charges are normal charges of his service provider. 2. For transfering funds, you need to know the MMID of the transferee. The transferee needs to be registered with SMS banking in order to have a MMID. So, you can transfer funds only if the transferee also has SMS banking activated. 3. The amount of transfer is also lower when compared to mobile banking. However it's a very simple interface without any complications. And the steps to be followed to activate are also very simple.
