when you sign in to your account, just after signing in, and before
loading the actual gmail page, there a links comes "load basic html",
you need to click on that link .

if ur basic HTML link is not appearing, then may be it is activated.
Alternatively, if u find basic HTML in the links list, that means
standard view is activated. It is a bread crump. Hope this helps.
