Subject: Invitation to "The View From Here" exhibition of photographs by the
visually impaired at Worli Mumbai during the Joy of Giving Week from Oct 2-8,
10am to 7pm on all days

Beyond Sight Foundation cordially invites you to the opening of THE VIEW FROM
HERE, a unique exhibition of photographs by the visually impaired at Gallery
Art & Soul
1 Madhuli, Shivsagar Estate, Worli, Mumbai (Opp: The Nehru Center, end of
Poonam Chambers) on Sunday 2nd October at 6pm (continues until 9pm)

The View From Here occupies the ground zero of photography, a subject full of
paradox and revelation. It is a collection of photographs taken by the visually
impaired who were trained in photography under the Blind With Camera project
between 2006 and 2010.
The Blind with Camera project is the first of its kind in India.

Since 2006, photographs coming out of the project have been exhibited in
several mainstream art galleries across India and abroad. This exhibition is
not just about the photographs, it also offers engaging sensitization events
that provides emotional, intellectual and sensory “inclusion” of both
visually impaired and sighted visitors.

When you visit, visually impaired photographers will take you around the show
and they will share their unique process of creation, their feelings and
explain how they access the photographs they took. You can get your picture
taken by them and you can join the blindfold photography workshop they conduct.
You can also watch “Dark Light” a film on international blind photographers
and the Iranian film “Seven Blind Female Film makers.”

Join us to experience the illuminated world of the visually impaired
photographers and support them for equal opportunity and to lead a life of
dignity.

Exhibition will remain open until Saturday 8th October 2011, from 10am to 7pm
on all days.

Visually impaired visitors can access and enjoy the photo exhibits through
touch and feel raised pictures, Braille and large print footnotes,
accessible catalogues, audio description (AD) and assistance from volunteers.
