Hello Ashik,

We are also planning to lanuch a PIL. Before that we have to do a lot of homework. Maybe the court order in Gujarat will help.

If you don't mind, give me your contact number. We may contact you if necessary.

Best regards,

Dear Amiyo,

Here in Gujarat, the situation is grim as well. In April 2010, the state government issued a circular ordering a ban on the recruitment of blind teachers in the primary schools. The case is in the High Court and the verdict is awaited.

The blind candidates eligible for the appointments protested by observing fast for five days, but it failed to attract the attention of the state government. Let's hope for the best to come out from the verdict of the court in coming days.

Hello,

About two years back about 50,000 primary teachers were recruited in West Bengal. there was no post reserved for VI candidates in the initial advertisement. After protest reservation was granted. But in most cases, candidates with 100% visual handicap were denied appointment. Either their results were withheld or they were somehow disqualified. There are still a number of litigations pending in the Kolkata High Court. At least one candidate with 100% visual handicap has got his appointment by virtue of court order.

We are planning to launch a massive movement. What is the situation in other states? Are there 100% VI teachers at primary schools?

With best regards,
Amiyo Biswas
