Very easy.
Install thunderbird and activate it.
Go through the dialogue box as prompted.
But, before that, You must go to your Gmail account and enable the pop
access feature.
For this, you will have to go to the settings, forward and pop and
enable the radio button "Mails arrives from now onwards radio button."
If you wish to work with multiple computers, then, you can also enable
the imap radio button.
Well, let's come back to thunderbird.
Once you have configured your account in thunderbird, when you delete an
Email from your inbox, it will go into the trash.
In thunderbird, you can select Emails by shift up and down arrow keys.
Pressing the delete key will arace the Emails.

yeah naturally Standard view but its getting tougher as days go by. I
use to use IMAP to do my stuff, but no idea of thunderbird and wish to
learn how to the deletion anyway. would be an interesting lesson too.
