Retina India offers help to patients belonging to the economically
weaker sections of society, who need financial support for receiving
treatment for retinal conditions from various eye institutions around
the country.

The program is focused on retinal treatments alone. These include, but
not limited to, the following:

1. Laser treatment for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy,
retinal holes, etc.
2. Intraocular injections for diabetic retinopathy, macular
degeneration, vascular occlusions (CRVO or BRVO), etc.
3. Surgery for Retinal Detachment, Diabetic Retinopathy, etc.

The following conditions apply:

1. Patient or patient’s close family member must call the phone number
mentioned above.
2. The patient or the family member, on enquiry, should be able to
confirm his/her economically challenged status.
3. Once patient makes a request, Retina India will have the authority
to call the treating doctor, or check with the hospital/clinic where
the patient has been examined, to seek any information about the case.
4. The Doctors of Retina India will be consulted regarding the medical
condition.
5. The money will not be directly paid to the patient or the family.
6. Once confirmed, Retina India administrative staff will deal
directly with the treating doctor, or the hospital/institute,
regarding payment for the treatment. This will help avoid any delay in
treatment for the patient.
7. Retina India, and its doctors and administrative staff, will have
the final right to the decision regarding approval, or refusal, for
payment for the treatment.

Additional conditions apply:

1. The program is meant for an Indian patient living anywhere in India.
2. The payment is only meant for the actual cost of treatment. It will
not support any additional costs involved, such as transport, lodging
and food.
3. The payment will only be paid once to a particular patient. The
program does not cover any additional payment for any subsequent
surgeries that may be required.

Legal disclaimer:

1. The payment is meant to help an economically challenged person who
has difficulty in paying for retinal treatment.
2. With the payment for the treatment being made by Retina India, it
should in no way be construed that Retina India is responsible for, or
has explicitly or implicitly agreed to be responsible for the outcome
of the treatment.
3. The patient will only contact Retina India after the treating
doctor has confirmed the need for a said treatment. Retina India will
not be involved in the deliberations between the treating doctor and
the concerned patient/family, regarding the eye condition, the need
for treatment/s, or the possible outcome of the treatment/s.
4. Retina India’s Doctor-on-Call service, and its doctors, will
continue to advise, free-of-charge, a potential patient/family about
the need for a particular procedure, and its likely outcome. But the
advice given by the Doctor of Retina India should not be used to
justify, question, or nullify what your treating doctor has advised
you.
5. Retina India does not, and will not, in any way, shape or form,
suggest consulting a particular doctor or a hospital, neither will it
prevent anyone from seeking a consultation from any particular
doctor/hospital.
6. Once Retina India pays for the treatment, it has the right to seek
details of, apart from the case report of the patient, the operation
details, and any post-operative findings from the treating doctor.
7. Retina India will not willingly disclose the patient information to
any third party, unless it is requested on legal grounds.
