Hi,

First of all, this is a wonderful discussion. Thanks for starting this thread.

coming to the point, in none of my dreams was I a sighted person. I
was always a visually challenged person in my dreams, though I dream
of becoming a sighted person one day(smile). In fact, I still get a
dream wherein I have to go home with sunlight deteriorating. This is
because I can't navigate alone in darkness.
This emphasises what learned experts have said, dreams are only an
extension and/or reflection of our personal, emotional, behavioural,
and situational factors.

Coming to impact of blindness by birth, blindness in childhood and
deteriorating vision conditions on dreams, I can only comment on the
third as I fall in that category. I can see in dreams only what I can
see when I'm awake. For example, if it is day time in dreams, I can
see well. But if I have a dream of boarding a bus during night time
along with someone, I can only feel the steps of the bus, the crowd
around, the bus seats, etc, and nothing else.

Coming to impact of past vision condition on dreams, honestly I can't
recollect how I used to dream and compare it with how I'm dreaming
now. But I feel I can see more in dreams than what I can see when
I'm awake. This goes with what Harish sir wrote.

But I can't compare between situations/locations/persons that I'm
familiar with now or in the past and those I'm not familiar with. I
feel familiarity with a situation or location or person has some
impact on his vision condition in his dreams, if the person is
experiencing/ has experienced deteriorating vision conditions.

I request everyone to specifically mention the mail he/she is
replying to as this is a complicated subject as it would help in
understanding things better.

I also request someone like Rajesh sir to contemplate pursuing a small
research on this issue. We can come up with a questionnaire and get
it filled by people. We can then analyse, interpret, and draw some
conclusion. It can be on a very small scale.
