Eyeway launched in West Bengal in Bengali language!
A collaboration of Sanchar & Score Foundation.

Project Eyeway is a one-stop knowledge resource about living a fulfilling life
with vision impairment. Eyeway reaches out across India to blind & low vision
people through its website (www.eyeway.org), radio programme, helpdesk, SMS
alerts, workshops/seminars, advocacy work and cricket camps.

Eyeway West Bengal begins with a weekly radio show aired across the state,
complemented with a helpdesk where people can contact with their queries.

The 15 minute infotainment radio show in Bengali called 'Eyeway Alor Patho
Jatri', begins from 12 february 2012, every Sunday through 5 stations of All
India Radio (AIR). The station & timing details are as follows:

Eyeway West Bengal will make available all information about living with vision
loss from the local, national & global arena to the people in the state in
their own language.

The Helpdesk is just a call away on 9051 099 199. One can also write to us on
[email protected], or come & meet the counselor at: Sanchar, A-2/6, Diamond
Park, Joka, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata 700104. The timings are 10am to 5pm,
Monday to Saturday.

Eyeway strongly believes that the problem is not with the eye, but with the
mindsets, and knowledge has the power to change lives. Both the radio show &
the helpdesk would endeavour to inform, inspire and empower people with useful
information related to education & training, independent living skills, work
opportunities, products & technologies, rehab & other support services, legal &
government provisions and much more. The helpdesk would also connect the
callers with mentors & service providers, wherever needed.

Eyeway is an initiative of Score Foundation, a non-profit organisation
operating from Delhi. Currently in its 10th year, Score Foundation has been
reaching out to blind/low-vision people nationally with useful information in
Hindi and English. The launch of Eyeway in Bengali language is 2nd state level
partnership; first was in Oriya language for Orissa which began in January 2011.

Sanchar brings the Eyeway services to West Bengal. SANCHAR is an organization
working for the rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in West Bengal and
other states of India to improve their social and economic status and to ensure
their human rights. Since 1988 SANCHAR is working with persons with all types
of disabilities, their parents, and the members of the community through
Community Based Rehabilitation process for an inclusive society with equal
rights, opportunities and respect for all irrespective of their abilities.

Share this news with everyone you know in West Bengal; help us reach every
person who could benefit from the service.

Thanks and regards,
