If the transaction is high then I preffer to make use of other modes of
payment. In most of the cases I feel safe with mobile / online platform. I
do not keep more than, let's say INR 1,000 in my wallet usually during
normal conditions, and as much as possible I avoid receiving money from
strangers.
I also take note of how much I have in cash using notex when I'm by myself
time to time, and arange the notes by their denominations in different
compartments of my wallet and orient myself with in and out of my wallet so
that I'm aware where and how much I have, because I don't like to fumble
with money when I'm paying out.
And at the time of my face - to - face transaction with sighted strangers,
as much as possible, I transact with more confidence but it is kind of tough
when I'm receiving the money because I don't want to look like an easy
target to be "fooled around" with cash. Having said that, I seriously think
we need to have more accessible way of dealing with currencies
independently.

Forgot to mention very potent trick of mine,

I compare notes length and bredth with that of my wallet it self it has
touchable lines on it helping me to confirm the lengths.

SO look for similar wallets and design your own tricks.
