I believe that's a default behaviour. Open the Start menu and navigate to Computer (My Computer is now changed to Computer) option. Press the Application key to open the context menu for the selected option. Navigate to the option named "Show on Desktop" and press ENTER. Similar method for Documents (My Documents is now Documents).
