If you like to select non-adjacent cells / rows / columns, make your first selection and then press shift + f8, after that move to the cells you want to include in your selection and then use the appropriate selection keys. For example, let's say I have already selected column A by pressing control + space and I want to select column M and then column T and column AE. Having already selected the column A, I press shift + f8 to turn on the add selected range mode, after that using either the arrow keys or the go to reference option I move to m1, and then press control space, then move to t1 and press control space again, then move to AE 1 and press control + space.
