LAN slot is meant to connect computers on a network, say an office network. Once the system is connected on a network we can access internet if the network is connected to internet. Usually the hub used by broad band modems make use of hubs that can be plugged into a LAN port. This makes it easy to connect a modem on a network in an office or work place.
