Dear all, As you are aware late Shri Lal Advani had played a pioneering role in initiating the modern rehabilitation services for the disabled in post-independence period and is rightly known as the father of rehabilitation of the disabled in India. In order to recognize his contribution to the rehabilitation services for the disabled in India, the Indian Association for the Special Education and Rehabilitation has been organizing the Lal Advani Memorial Lecture series on the occasion of birth anniversary of Shri Lal Advani on 26 of April on important issues in the field of disability. We have had the privilege of having leading figures in the field of disability to deliver lectures in the past. They include Dr. Uma Tuli (Former Chief Commissioner on Disability), Major General Ian Cardozo (Chair Person, Rehabilitation Council of India), Professor Amita Dhanda, Dr. Maya Thomas, Dr. Sudha Koal etc. Likewise, this year too we have the privilege of having this lecture by Dr. Bhushan Punani, a gold medalist of IIM Ahemdabad of 1979 batch who decided to work for the blindness sectore. he devoted his entire professional life to develop Blind People's Association, the largest NGO in Gujarat as a model organization and would be sharing his thoughts on BPA as a model organization.
