no. thumb impression cheques can only be issued for bill and utility
payments only. where the impression of the customer be verified by the bank
official.

Hello friends,
One of my friends is denied provision to use cheques with thumb
impression by a nationalised bank. Some other banks are permitting the
same. Please give me clarification on this and possible any orders to
help him if it is there. He being in his old age fails to go to the
bank frequently to collect his pention. When he submits self thumbed
cheques, the bank officials are not ready to accept it. They say that
in such cases, he must personally come to encash the cheques.
He can use ATM but he is not so confident about it.
