why this expenditure will be debited under CSR head. it is the responsibility of employer to provide full access to their disabled employees. the CSR activity means that it should be done for the needy people outside the organisation not in the same organisation. we are a blind employee not a blind begger.

Hello,
the idea of providing volunteers/ assistants will open a lot of career
options for visually impaired people.
regardless of the person being an officer a corporate manager or even
a office assistant.
I here at IIM can't take up those jobs which include a lot of external
works/ surveys.
like core marketing, operations management and a lot of branches in finance.
if this proposal will be passed then, I and a lot of corporate
managers will be free to choose their area of interests.
regards

HI,

Why only to people in such higher strata? Usually such people get
some or the other allowance for conveyance, though, at times, human
assistance is indespensible. Its people in the lower strata who need
more of such support. How can we claim it is CSR when we
differentiate amongst different classes of needy? However, I like
this idea of providing volunteers for PWDs as a CSR initiative.

As per the new companies Act 2013, a corporate has to spend 2% of the net
profit in CSR activities. This provisions can very well be utilised for
welfare of Persons With Disabilities. A proposal is mentioned below :-

Person with Severe disability/ blind, employed in PSUs/ govt offices as
class 1 officer, who need escort for efficient discharge of duty be
provided with an escort. The expenditure so incurred by the Corporate be
treated as CSR activity and be accounted / considered. for within 2% of
the
total expenditure to be incurred by the aforesaid activity.

Further Income tax also allows helper allowance u/s 10(14)

Thus it is hereby requested to send a suitable proposal by AICB to
concern
ministry to implement the same. The same would be in larger interest of
PWD
and also the undersigned.

Madhav
