if i may add my 2 bits here, i think there's a huge comunication gap going on here.
i think what avinash was trying to say was, that in principle, descemination of knowledge should be free of cost. if i'm not wrong, he also admitted that charging for food and other logistics is fair enough. unfortunately avinash, although i do understand completely where this is coming from, we do not function in an ideal marxist senario today. so it is unfair to expect a vollantery group like the organisers of this convention to organise such a quality event from their own pockets. there is no way they would receive funding from any government agency, and in spite of that, they have only charged a minimal amount, bearing logistical costs. at the same time, this intimation was given way in advance. and if we are not happy with such an arrangement, we can unfortunately do no more than not be part of it. so in spite of prior intimation, if people have gone in sneakily and not payed their dues, then it is only unfair to the organisers. i think we all agree, that in an ideal world, things would have been different. but although i completely endorse your ideas avinash, it is a bit unfair to expect such a situation in our current overall senario. in any case, please let us not miss-understand and make enemies of each-other, when all of us are well-meaning. perhaps next time a voucher can be issued without which, people should not be allowed to partake the food till they show a koopon etc. it would be great if the organisers approached those people individually, and take whatever action necessary. lets try and not point fingers publicly. rest asured, it is indeed sad, that people bend down to such a level in spite of all efforts made by organisers to make things so convenient and low budget. i truely am sorry that you guys had to experience this in return for all your efforts. but do consider the koopone sistem for next time.
