The Government is not ready to issue a formal statement on the issue and is
keeping everyone guessing. Based on media briefing by Mr. KV Thomas, a low
rung CWC member, the word "deferred" has been used for all the proposed
ordinances without any clarity of their fate by the media.

The media is carefully using words "The Cabinet which met for nearly two
hours decided to postpone the ordinances amid speculation that its special
meeting could be held early next week on the issue. There was, however, no
official word on it by the government."

Though the writing is clear on the wall given the fact that on Monday 02nd
March 2014, Election Commission will declare the general elections bringing
in the Model Code of Conduct and that today was the last official meeting
of the Cabinet. The protesters are not going to budge unless there is a
formal word from the PMO. The sector is careful for any ill-designs and
will go to any extent against such a move. We are all aware that such
ordinances are colourable exercise of power and always subject to judicial
scrutiny !
