Hon. Coordinator: Sr. Adv. Shri. S. K. Rungta Pushp Vihar, New Delhi - 110017 Mob: 9312607540 Phone: 011-29562316, 29562318 Fax : 011-29564198 [email protected] Press Statement 28.02.2014 DISABLE INJURED IN LATHI CHARGE This is in continuation to our yesterday's protest today about 1500-2000 disabled people affiliated with All India Disabilities Alliance demonstrated before Prime Minister's House at Race course Road as well as before the Bhinder Point (Red Light next to P.M. House) against the singing of Ordinance on Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill as is being planned by the UPA Government. During this peaceful agitation, Police again deployed severe Lathi Charge over the disabled persons by arresting the sighted volunteers who came to help them. This will further push us to intensify the struggle and the administration and police will be held responsible for any consequence. It is shameful that they have surrounded all the disabled with bericades all around them denying them their fundamental right to liberty, independence and expression. It is all the most the demeaning that even the women protesters faced ill treatment by the police. We would also like to inform the public through the media that Mr. Ram Karan, who is a partially blind, is struggling hard in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to retain his vision due to yesterday's lathi charge. It is further to inform that we have waited the whole day under severe rainfall in the open, however, no one from Congress or Union Govt. Has formally informed us until now that it will not take the ordinance route. Hence, we have decided to continue our agitation. At the time of this press release a huge number of disabled are still assembled at 9, Tuglak Road, New Delhi. We hope that the Govt. Will take cognizance of the situation and end this deadlock as early as possible. We thanks the media for its support and we hope that they will not failed to cover the evening situation as well. Yours Sincerely, Inder Singh For S.K.
