No, actually the argument that disability is a peculiarity bestowed by god as a challenge to be overcome, or to give solace to others is not convincing... to me.... Actually, disability and theism combined lead to the oft prevalent notion of a punishment or curse for deeds done in previous births...
You cannot convince a seeing person, or a walking person, that lack of eyesight or walking ability is merely a unique gift from god to enhance compassion or livability... And, actually, it is not true also, just a defense mechanism.....
