 GOOD NEWS:

Today (Friday 18 July) we learned that a project supported by our member
RNIB to develop smart Glasses for people with low vision has been selected
for a Google Global Impact award of £200,000.

This funding will enable the next step of significant user testing in the
UK.

BUT if the project is voted by the global public as one of the top two,
£300,000 additional funding will enable International participation in the
testing to get wider feedback before finalising designs and plans. I am sure
you will agree this is desirable for what is a global challenge.

This is where you (and your friends) have a voice:

Voting closes 30th July; so please do it now! It takes seconds.

Can you also help get the word out and encourage people to vote?

In my opinion Smart Glasses could be transformative for many People with
irreparable low vision. The research & development has been very well
received at recent International and European low vision conferences, and
the project aim is low cost mass market products. The development of
products like Google Glass make this achievable in a reasonable timescale.
