Dear All,

Give below details of Tamil OCR:

1. Developed by Prof.A.G.Ramakrishnan of Indian Institute of Science
(IISc) Bangalore link
http://mile.ee.iisc.ernet.in/mile/OpticalCharacter_Recognition.html
The accuracy level of the IISc OCR is 90 to 95% depending on the quality of
the printed material/scanning. It is not available commercially, but IISc is
distributing it against requests from non-commercial users/NGOs. Worth Trust
was a testing partner from the beginning and based on the feedback provided
by WT, the OCR has come to this level.

2. Now, a commercial Tamil OCR is available, which has been developed
by Dr. Oliver Hellwig, a German. link
http://www.indsenz.com/int/index.php?content=software_ind_ocr_tamil
This is also giving a good result with accuracy levels upto 90-95%.
