You may recall that All India Confederation of the Blind had announced
third  All India Madanlal Khandelwal Memorial Braille Essay
Competition in various Indian languages and in English.
The last date for the submission of essays was 31st August 2014.
However, With the view to encourage more participants,The date of
submission has been extended up to 8th  September, 2014.
Now, we look forward to receiving Braille  essays from you on or
before 8th  September, 2014.
Please find the details below.
We hope and trust that you will give wide publicity to this event so
that more and more blind persons could take part in this activity.
Dear Colleagues,
Sub: Third All India Madanlal Khandelwal Braille Essay Competition.

We are pleased to inform you that it has been decided that in order to
popularize Braille further nationwide, we should continue to organize
the aforesaid Braille essay competition for the third year also.  As
you would recall, we conduct this competition in memory of Madanlal
Khandelwal, an ardent supporter of the blind.   Late Shri Madanlal
Khandelwal based in London, was a reputed social worker and sponsored
various Braille promotion programmes during his life time through this
Organization.  He also made a handsome donation of Rs. 20,00,000/- to
this organization for Corpus Fund.

As before, the competition is titled "All India Madanlal Khandelwal
Memorial Braille Essay Competition 2014" and will be held in Hindi,
English and other Indian languages. The Competition shall carry
attractive cash prizes.

Rules and regulations as well as topics for the essay competition for
junior and senior groups are given below for your ready reference:-

1.    There will be two groups of competitors--one Junior group up to
the age of 25 years and the second Senior group from the age of above
25 years.
2.    Group-wise topics for the essay competition are:

Junior group (Hindi): "Bharat Mein Drishtiheeno Ke Sangathano se meri
Apekshaen."
Junior group (English): "My expectations from organizations of the
blind in India."

Senior group (Hindi): "Bharat Mein Ugravad aur Maovad--Vastvik Kaaran Ve Nidaan"
Senior group (English): "Militancy and Maoism--real causes and solutions."

3.    The essay should be written by the blind participants in Hindi
or English or any Indian language approved by the Confederation.
4.    Essays should be written in uncontracted Braille in Indian
languages.   For English, the essays should be written in contracted
Braille (grade-2).
5.    Essays should be written by Braille slate or Braille
typewriter/Perkins Brailler.  In no case should the essays be entered
on the computers and converted into Braille through a translation
software.
6.    Essays should be written on one side of the sheet only and each
page number should be marked in continuation at the top right-hand
corner.
7.    Maximum length of the essay for junior group should be between
600-800 words and for senior group between 800-1000 words inclusive of
applicant's name, age, address phone No., topic of the essay.  The
essays not written as per the prescribed word limits shall not be
included in the competition.
8.    The Competition carries certificates and three cash prizes of
Rs.  6000, 4,000 and 2,000 for junior group and Rs. 8000, 5000 and
3000 for senior group in each language.  Thus, in each language there
shall be 6 cash prizes for the winners.
9.    The essays must be completely original in nature.
10. The essays in each language shall be examined by reputed persons
and their decision shall be final and binding for all.
11. For determining the best three entries in each language group the
following shall be kept in mind:
                      i.        Content
                    ii.        Language and style
                   iii.        Braille proficiency and neatness
12. Last date for receipt of essays in Braille in AICB office shall be
 8th September, 2014.
13. On each envelope language of the essay and junior or senior group
should be mentioned.

We hope and trust that you will give widest possible publicity to this
event so that more and more blind persons could take part in this
activity.
