If you install ms office 2007, this problem may occur. i don't exactly
remember how I solved it. Try changing the language on the spelling tab of
options submenu under the tools menu. It is a simple combo box for six or
seven languages.
A solucion for this problem was offered by someone on this list a few years
back. Unfortunately, I did not save the message. You may search our archive.

I don't use Outlook Express anymore; but if you have installed the English
version of Windows, English should be the default option. Have you tried
using the spellchecker without changing any settings? If this doesn't
work,
you will have to install additional languages manually from the Windows XP
CD.
