After Delhi University took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the
campus, the university has decided to make toilets on campus more
disabled-friendly.

According to an official at the university's Equal Opportunity Centre,
plans to renovate toilets for students with disabilities on campus are
under way.

"In order to improve the accessibility of the differently-abled
students in terms of facilities, the university will renovate the
toilets at the various colleges," the official said.

He further added that a committee, comprising twenty members, formed
by the varsity for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, will monitor the work being
done on this project.

"The university will also approach the relevant government departments
with a request for the construction of accessible footpaths for
differently-abled students within college campuses," the official
added.

Earlier, the university had undertaken a project to ensure that the
campus infrastructure be made disabled-friendly.

"Ramps and other infrastructural facilities had been created for
people with disabilities on campus," the official said.
 As per DU record, there are nearly 1250 students with disabilities
enrolled in the university under various programme
