Dear All

We celebrated The World White Cane Day with great zeal and elan
yesterday. During noontime, JNU Visually Challenged Forum in
collaboration with JNU Central Library organized a Public Lecture on
"Disability Rights Movement in India: Emergence, Challenges and Way
Forward" delivered by Scenior disability rights activist Dr RK Sarin
(Who teaches at Satyavati College Delhi University). Those of you, who
for one or the other reasons could not make it to JNU Central Library
yesterday, can download and listen the Lecture from the below link

Note: We will also be putting this lecture on Youtube soon. Then in
the evening we took out White Cane March in the entire campus covering
Ganga Dhabha to Addblock via Chandra Bhaga, Koyna and Shipra Hostels.
Then At the addblock members of the JNU Visually Challenged Forum
enthralled the crowd with their superb performances. Some members of
the Forum articulated the pressing concerns and challenges faced by
blind students on campus. JNUSU President, and activists from various
political parties also took part in the march. JNU Visually Challenged
Forum owes thanks to those people who came from Delhi University and
from other parts of Delhi who joined us yesterday. And thank you all
forum members for making White Cane Day 2014 a memorable one. Our
tryst with studies through struggles will continue.
