1. i dont think u will get a replasement and if u dont get there are
somethings that u can try to recover your data u wont get a
replasement cause it was not a manifacturing defact but u can still
try.
if u dont get your replasement or before u get a replasement try the following.
1. connect your drive to usb and hear if there are any unusual sounds
coming from the drive.
2. now take sighted help and go into your computers bios and mostly to
something called boot menu.
3. now see if it detects your hard drive.
4. if it detects it then its fantastic.
5. now use a software called spinwrite its a paied software costs
around 5000 and if it doesnt work for u the developer gives u money
back but i dont know if its true u can purchase it on grc.com
6. now as u pay and as payment is clear download the software and burn
it on disk and boot from disk.
7. now select the drive that u want to run it on and first run it on
pass 2 and then reboot into windows and see if the drive is red if not
run it on pass 4.
8. spinwrite is 0%accessable and u always need a sighted help to see
if its done.
9. pass 4 of spinwrite can take many days and sometimes many months also.
10 purchase spinrite only if the computer bios detects a usb storage
if the computer bios cannot detect usb storage nothing in the world
can detect it.
11. u can also take the drive to the shop and tell them to change the
plastic caseing along with the usb connecter but dont take to a wd
service center it will be expensive.
12. i dont think that just by keeping your hand on a drive it can
damage the head i have dropt my drive many times and rough use it but
nothing hapend
