We are a special Government aided institution established in the year
1991 by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore for the purpose of providing
professional education exclusively for the differently abled students,
so as to bring them on to the main stream of the society. This
institution has recognition from AICTE, New-Delhi and it is affiliated
to Technical Education Board, Govt. of Karnataka. We offer 3 year
diploma programme exclusively for orthopedically differently abled,
visually impaired and Hearing Impaired students. We have courses in
the area of Architecture, Commercial Practice, Computer Science &
Engineering, Electronics Communication & Engineering, Jewellery Design
& Technology and Computer Applications for the Visually Impaired.
The atmosphere is specially designed for the Differently Abled and has
barrier-free environment.  The Institution is equipped with
laboratories, computer center, library and information center, hostel
facility for both girls and boys at affordable cost, sports, speech
therapy, gymkhana, placement and training cell, counselling service,
health center, canteen, bank facilities, NSS, alumni association etc.
The students are encouraged to participate in cultural, educational
and sports activities held in college as well as at Intercollegiate,
State & National level.  In few cases, they have participated at
International level also.
The Diploma course in Computer Applications for the Visually Impaired
was started from the academic year   2005-06. Ours is the only
institution offering this course in the country exclusively for the
Visually Impaired. To suit the requirements of the industries demand
the curriculum has been revised and introduced on job oriented
subjects like Computer Applications, Mass communication and
Journalism, Insurance, Call center training, Banking,
Entrepreneurship Development, Accountancy, Commerce, English
Communication and Written Skills,  Kannada, Hindi and English Computer
Typing, Psychology / Counselling etc.
The main objectives of this course are to provide skills for the
visually impaired students and to increase their job opportunities in
the areas like print and electronic media industries, Insurance,
Banking and BPO sectors etc.

The CAVI Department has been equipped with latest technology such as
Job-Access-with-speech (JAWS) and Non Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) is
a special screen reading software which enables the visually impaired
students to read the contents on the computer screen. Electronic
Tactile Graphics maker duplicates figures/illustrations in embossed
form and enables the visually impaired to touch, feel and visualize
illustrations. Braille Printers which supports for the conversion of
text material into Braille. NUDI software is used for Kannada computer
typing, The Computer Lab is equipped with the latest computer system
with Internet Facilities. Spacious, well furnished classrooms are
provided for the visually impaired students to make them comfortable
in learning.  The Department is strengthened by well qualified and
committed faculty members.

Every year we organize guest lectures, carrier guidance program,  Soft
skills programs, English Bridge Course, psychology, Online Training
Program, English and Aptitude training programmes, Industrial Visits
etc. to increase their job opportunities and for better placements in
various sectors.

Our students have also secured job placement regularly through campus
interviews, off-campus selection and job fairs by leading IT
industries in the state and there is a provision of 3% reservation of
jobs for the differently abled in public sectors which helps our
students to face competitive exams conducted by Government of
Karnataka. After successful completion of the Diploma, the students
have been placed in various Public Sectors like State Bank of India,
Dena Bank etc., Corporate Houses like Wipro, IBM etc. Government
offices like Civil Court ,various Trusts and NGOs.

Visually Impaired students can also opt for higher studies.  Bangalore
University has permitted lateral entry to II year B.Com/BBM to
students who have completed Diploma in Computer Applications for the
Visually Impaired.
This institution intends to bring more visually impaired students to
pursue professional education. As you aware that most of the visually
impaired students come from economically backward families, they lack
awareness in terms of opportunities that are available to them. The
institution takes initiative to get financial support to economically
backward students through scholarships / freeships from government,
NGOs and individual philanthropist. This institution would like to
create awareness among them with regard to the opportunities they have
after they pass their 10th std. We have already helped more than 1500
different abled students to become employed / self-employed.

Our college has secured national award in the year 2013 from the
president of india.
 Diploma students passed out 50
 out of 50 Some students are continuing higher education.
40 students are employed in various sectors.

 We are glad to inform you that admissions for Diploma in Computer
Applications for the  Visually Impaired, 2015-16 will commence during
the first week of June 2015, for students who have passed SSLC or
equivalent course.
We sincerely hope you would give wide publicity to this exclusively
designed professional course (Diploma in Computer Applications for the
Visually Impaired) for the parents and visually impaired and motivate
the students to join this course.
