While at the one hand Fin Min recognizes that life insurance is given to all people with disabilities by public as well as private insurers, at the same time it leaves a scope for insurers to take the decisions based on the underwriting policy.
Health insurance still remains closed to a large extent. There is a clear need to have risk assessment and claim assessment guidelines in place in conformity with the specific conditions of various disabilities. Anyone on the list in the insurance sector would like to throw light as to how a person with disability's life is categorized as sub-standard etc in terms of the board approved underwriting policies? As these documents are not available for public view. Regards, -- Amar Jain.
