into. Joseph Lee, a regular code contributor and Korean translation

Dear NVDA users, developers and supporters around the world:

It is official: the complete set of English audio tutorials for NVDA, now
titled Welcome to NVDA 2015, is now available for download. This edition
packs all the features of NVDA 2015.1, including complete coverage of all
configuration settings, revised material on popular apps and NVDA and much
more.



About the tutorial: this nine part tutorial series, recorded by a
contributor to NVDA screen reader project, covers everything you ever wanted
to know about NVDA. This tutorial set covers everything from installation,
basic commands, object navigation and review cursor, mouse and touchscreen
features, web browsing, popular applications, complete set of configuration
options, tools and add-ons. The first edition of this tutorial, published in
2013, has been updated in this second edition to include coverage of new
review modes, integration of touchscreen gestures, configuration profiles
and much more.

The tutorial files, along with a zip file containing all tutorial chapters,

Contents of the tutorial:

1.       Introduction: NVDA features, how to install and update NVDA,
creating a portable copy and how to start, restart and exit NVDA.

2.       Basics: NVDA menu, welcome dialog, basic keyboard and touchscreen
commands.

3.       All about objects: Object navigation, review cursor, object,
document and screen review modes, mouse manipulation and touchscreen
support.

4.       Browsing the web: focus versus browse mode, first letter
navigation, elements list, embedded objects, live regions and advanced
commands.

5.       Popular applications: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,
PowerPoint), Miranda IM, Winamp, Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird and Windows
Store apps.

6.       Configuring NVDA I: Preferences menu overview, general settings,
synthesizer and supported synthesizers, voice settings and synth settings
ring, braille settings and supported braille displays, keyboard settings,
mouse settings and how to save and revert to saved configuration.

7.       Configuring NVDA II: Review cursor, input composition settings,
object presentation, browse mode, document formatting, speech dictionaries,
symbol pronunciation, input gestures and restoring default settings.

8.       Configuration profiles and tools: Log viewer, speech viewer, Python
console, reloading plug-ins, configuration profiles.

9.       All about add-ons: Add-ons manager, Systray List, Extended Winamp,
Resource Monitor, Control Usage Assistant, OCR, Easy Table Navigator and
final remarks.

For those coming from 2013 series, here's what's new and changed:

1.       Introduction: Added a segment towards the end on how to restart
NVDA with and without add-ons.

2.       Basics: Touchscreen commands are demonstrated.

3.       All about objects: Review modes introduced, replacing flat review.

4.       Browsing the web: Live regions added, a dedicated section on focus
versus browse mode has been added.

5.       Popular apps: Microsoft Word and Outlook sections were updated to
mention browse mode facility.

6.       Configuring NVDA: Updated various sections and added a section on
input gestures dialog (chapter 7).

7.       Config profiles and tools: Added a section on configuration
profiles, including how to add and delete profiles and different profile
types and triggers.

8.       Add-ons: Easy Table Navigator replaces Instant Translate add-on,
revised add-ons manager section to cover additions to this dialog.

Planned addenda:

1.       Math support: A brief overview on reading math content in web
browsers.

2.       Regular expressions: a more detailed coverage of regular
expressions in speech dictionaries.

More addenda to be added as time goes by.
