Ms.Hemalatha completed her SSLC examination through the Indian Association for Blind and joined Plus One at Tiruchi School. "I was not aware that there was an exclusive school for blind girls and I had to struggle hard to pursue my education till class 9 under normal stream," she said. "I worked hard for seven to eight hours a day, said Hemalatha, who wanted to become an IAS officer. Special efforts taken by the headmistress and teachers encouraged students to work hard and achieve laurels, said Saminathan, District Disabled Welfare Officer. Vijayakumari, headmistress of the school, said that she identified slow learners and organised special coaching for them. Frequent tests, particularly during the pre-half-yearly period, helped students score well. I want to become a teacher, said Keerthana, who wishes to pursue under-graduation in English literature.
