Kurzweil is specially made for visually impaired person, it has high quality in built voice, and very good dictionary. For the mathematics student it provides a very good scientific calculator, It has more useful function then other software. Kurzweil also uses finereader enjen for the scanning purpose. I believe kurzweil is one of the excellent studying environment for students, as it has all the required things such as multi level bookmarking features, if you however don't put bookmark, then it will remember the position you've left before And much much more. But specificly for the scanning purpose, my favorite program is stand alone finereader. Finereader not only recognize the text, but it can also recognize the formatting information, complex table, etc. why I choose finereader is that suppose you have a document containing more then 5 diagrams and pictures. now if you use kurzweil to recognize this document, what kurzweil tries to do is that she trys to recognize this unusual picture and this diagrams too. She things that those diagrams and picture is also the part of text. This leads to piles of garbage in our documents. But finereader can easily differentiate and handle those pictures and the text very well, so that we could invoke the exact document on our computer screen as in our hard copy.
