Dear Kiran, My understanding of 6 sigma course is that it comes under Operations or Production branch of Management. It is related with Total Quality Management. 6 sigma is the area below the normal distribution curve which covers about 99.73% of the area. If the study sample material lies within this area that means the process, the material used, the technology are consistent. Better technology would imply better utilization of the resources and lower wasteage and lower cost; would in turn imply that the normal curve is becoming taller. To understand 6 sigma, there are various statistical tools that are emploied like X bar chart, R bar chart etc.
