Subject: How to select files in Win 98 by extension?

Hi!

Often I have to select some files for deleting, copying, printing etc. I
use Win 98 and click My Computer or Explorer to get to the directory I want
and then select the files. Is there a way by which I can select say all
"*.doc" files instead of clicking them individually holding the CTRL button
down ? There is an option for selecting all files but none for say "Select
by..."

Any help would be appreciated.

You can't or least I haven't figured out how to do it.

I'm surprised that this server is back in operation. The owner took in

Hi folks,

To that user who asked about PPP etc, I beg to differ. PPP is chosen
above SLIP due to its *robustness*, as it is based on good ol' HDLC,
rather than SLIP, which simply framed IP datagrams.

Hi ACCMailers

I sent a messages to an agora server with the commnad "send news:alt.wired"
and I got this answer:

My question now is How can I retrieve those messages. I was thinking it
should not be by puting an X before the item because they are posting
messages constantly and the numeration changes. So.. please...someone tell
me how can I retreive those messages.
Is there any way to retrieve all messages from a newsgroup?

Tanks a lot.

Lot's of servers don't appear in the stats. However, when I receive a
note from a site that shows something like this:

"WARNING! We are going to terminate this service (gopher and gophermail).
If you are unhappy about it, please drop me a message. We can try to
find an alternative solution for you and also there's always a chance we
change our decision. Thank you. Jan Hrdonka <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"

I take it at face value that the service is going to be terminated.
Especially after I send mail to Jan and don't receive an answer!!!

Also, you must remember that the stats are generated by retrieving a
help file, not actually using the server to perform a search or file
retrieval. Several servers will send a help file but don't actually
work!!!

Do you still believe that [EMAIL PROTECTED] works? It will answer a help
file request.

If you use the rely function of your mail program to save the URL that
it is in the subject line, you can just places the numbers in the body
of a message like:

To: agora server
Subject: Re: <URL sent to you>
Body of message
2 3 7

Better yet, is to just send a new request using the actual URLs from
the reference section like:
To: agora server
Subject: [leave blank]
Body of the message
send [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I do not know of any us.* groups, however...

Looks like you want to look for misc.jobs.* &/or austin.jobs.

The above is an out of date listing (I need to get a new one!) but should
help.

For access via mail, I understand that reference.com is recovering. I do
not know their current status.

Good grief. Click View, then Arrange Icons then click by Type. Then
click in a blank area of the window next to the first or last file in
the group. Then drag the rubber band box around the files you want to
select.

And I started using Windows only in December 1998.

First, the next time you post to this list, please turn off the VCARD
encoding. If you don't know how to do this, see
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/nomime.html

If you knew how to use gophermail, you could retrieve the newsgroups here:

To: gophermail server
Subject: [leave blank]
Body of the message
Spilt=50K
#
Name=USENET News (Imperial College, UK)
Type=1
Port=70
Path=1/usenet/news-info
Host=src.doc.ic.ac.uk

You will find the it.* groups in Part 14 of 23 parts

See http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/howto2.html for more
information about using gophermail with Usenet newsgroups.
