Dear Alexei:

You probably didn't do anything wrong this time. In fact you have
received at least the first part of the MP3 file you requested.
However, the message you sent to the Gophermail server specified that
you would receive the file in 60K divisions.
If your e-mail provider allows it, you should send to receive the whole
file instead of small 60K parts; the command for this is:
"Split=0K"
Secondly, the message you received back shows that the file sent to you
was in Base64/MIME format.
There has to be software installed somewhere on your computer terminal
for such a format to be correctly interpreted visually. Apparently such
software is not installed on yours.
Hoping that you don't mind, I'm sending a copy of this to the Accmail
mailing list for further comment.

                                   Sincerely,

        You can use

for weather information, if you replace 74361 with your zip code

In a controversial move, Network Solutions has quietly closed the
Internic.net domain and moved everything to the Network Solutions
domain (http://www.networksolutions.com/)

So you old favorite web-based Whois search is now gone. Likewise,
Nicnews and other goodies are now missing.

See a CCN article

The whois search is now located at:

Hallo Heiner :)=

Due to the charges by german telecom for communications, there are no free
services; Tobit provided one but stopped with the release of their software David
(it was a kind of demo showing what the software can handle). I'm not sure if
anyone is providing it for free with ads in, but AFAIK completely free doesn't
exist ;/

It looks normal, however, it appears to be an "old style" UU encoded
format. Some decoders have problems with these IF the lines get trailing
spaces removed. Most modern decoders will automatically space-fill the
short lines. There are also some utilities that will "repair" the file.

Current encoders use the character '`' in place of a space to prevent
truncation of lines.

You did remove the end line from the re-encoded first part?

After decoding the part that you quoted, I have one question: What is a
.cxt file?      8-}

Subject: Possible loss of postings

Accmailers,

Yesterday afternoon I tried to update my M$ Internet Explorer to
version 5. Well, after successfully downloading and configuring the
system requested that I reboot. Well you can imagine what happened --
Explorer.exe error -- system dead. Rescue disk didn't work. Safe reboot
didn't work. Multiple reboots --zilch. So I had to resort to
reinstallation from Win 98 CD this morning.

Meanwhile, I decided to fire up my old 486 OS/2 box. Guess what? The
telephone number had changed. No big deal you say. Well after
reconfiguring my OS/2 dialer, lo and behold -- no connection to Netcom.
It seems there was a change in the logon sequence. Thought I never
would get it figured out. Finally, got on with OS/2 and received some
mail.

Finished Win 98 re-installation and got on to Netcom to retrieve the
rest of the mail.

So why the story above?
Well, it's looks like I either missed mail, didn't approve all postings
or some such. I may be all wrong and received all approvals -- but if
something you posted didn't appear -- please resend.

All I can say is, I'm really getting tired of the crummy M$ software. I
sure hope OS/2 gets an upgrade soon so I can go back...

Many lists are "closed" in that they require the list owner to approve
all subscribe requests. Some times the list owner may take a few days to
get around to processing these.

In short, if it takes over a week, then there may be a problem. Less
than that, and it could be just a busy list owner.

I have seen times when a list owner has gone out on vacation, and may
take almost a month to catch up, though this is rare.

If the site doesn't give a re-direction location, then there is no way
to know if it was moved or just doesn't exist anymore.
