I would have assumed the ACME server has to chase the SRV targets down.
That's counter intuitive, but RFC 4985 explicitly states that _Service.Name (without the
_Proto part that SRV record names have) is used. They also provide an explanation for
their design choice. XMPP clients are checking for "_xmpp-client." + domain.
The user would set up a CNAME from _acme-challenge._xmpp-client.example.com to
xmpp hosting and another one from _acme-challenge._service-b.example.com to the
other hosting provider.
