Other times that it has locked up, the backtrace has been longer and it scrolled the EIP lines off, so I couldn't see if anything was happening. The output " Intel machine check architecture supported. Intel machine check reporting enabled on CPU#0 " will be printed and it then hangs for ~30 sec before printing the backtrace. Normally (without the cpufreq) it takes at most 5 seconds before printing a bunch of device resumed messages and pulling up X. The first 4 lines of the backtrace are always the same except for the address in [<>].
