It also requires pci=noacpi to get through the X startup without freezing. I note that /proc/interrupts looks *very* different when booting with no pci= argument, though. Instead of assigning ints up through IRQ 23 as has been true for 2.6.20 and 2.6.21, it assigns numbers like 50, 58, 203, ...
