Since I stopped automatically loading the hdaps module at startup, even though
I never used hdaps except from time to time to awe some friends, that awful
seems to be gone.
My thinkpad is a t42 and is running a 2.6.22-14 ubuntu kernel.
I hope this is not just plain luck....
