Please make sure CONFIG_ACPI/PROCFS and CONFIG_ACPI_BATTERY is set.

You mean linux runs with the right ac/battery status, right?
Please attach the acpidump output.
Please do the following test:
echo 0x04 > /sys/module/acpi/parameters/debug_layer
echo 0x8800001f > /sys/module/acpi/parameters/debug_level
unplug/plug AC and attach the dmesg output.
