Okay, 2.6.22 had some mystery problem, likely related to the EC.
2.6.22 ec_intr=1 seemed to help, but the problem was gone in 2.6.23.
2.6.22 users of the hdaps driver had trouble -- dunno if that is
still true in 2.6.23 kernels; but the original problem seems to be gone.
