Ian, it`s probably because not all kernel devs scan bugzilla daily/weekly and
it`s because kernel devs are very busy people and you simply can`t expect them
to spend significant time to solve your very specific problem. 

i think you got already got a LOT of help here!

you could help finding what`s the issue by finding the last kernel release
which works and the first kernel release which failed. 

that should be straightforward and doesn`t take much time (besides compile time
of your computer) 

the best and shortest way to find that kernel is using "git bisect" - but you
may find some time to get used to it.
