can you try if "nosmp" makes a difference ?
can you also try to catch full kernel panic ?
if you cannot attach serial or net console, you may try "vga=ask" and select a
video mode with higher resolution, so the message may fit on screen.
did this also happen with earlier kernels?
if you never tried, can you try some ?
