Tested again with v2.6.27-rc8, which includes the patch referenced in comment
#7.
The battery info is always correct before the msi-laptop module is loaded.
After it is loaded, /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/info remains correct (this seems to
have changed since I originally filed the bug) but
/proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state is corrupted:
$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: charged
present rate: unknown
remaining capacity: unknown
present voltage: 10000 mV
