all of the key-presses have been recognized by the driver, this is a
gnome/hal/whatever configuration issue.
You should be able to see the keypress activity with xev while in X.

The brightness has to be controlled via the acpi video driver so as far as
sony-laptop is concerned this bug is fixed.
