Hi all,
I was experiencing the same behaviour has described before, but I found a way
to make it working.
Among BIOS options of my Dell studio 1555 there is one to choose the default
behaviour of multimedia keys (i.e. "Multimedia keys first" vs "Function keys
first"); if I set this option to "Multimedia keys first" changing brightness
works as well as detection of ac_adapter events.
The downside is that to use shortcuts like Alt+F4 I actually have to press
Alt+Fn+F4, which is hard to get used to.
